At ATA Lopez Foundation, we support individuals with disabilities, and their families navigate special education, and complex service systems. Our programs are designed to ensure no family feels alone while navigating these challenges.
Parent Support Sessions
We offer short, resource-based support sessions for caregivers seeking guidance on school concerns, disability services, or new challenges. These sessions provide clear information, practical next steps, and compassionate support.
Support topics may include:
- Understanding IEP and 504 plans
- Navigating school communication and documentation
- Waiver program overviews
- Developmental concerns and next steps
- Problem-solving school or service challenges
- Caregiver support and resource connections
Special Education & Waiver Navigation
Special education and disability service systems can be difficult to navigate. We help families better understand the processes, rights, and options available to them.
Guidance may include:
- Understanding special education rights and procedures
- Preparing for IEP meetings
- Requesting evaluations and services
- Understanding accommodations and supports
- Louisiana waiver program information
Advocacy may be available on a limited basis depending on organizational capacity.
Free Supplies & Community Resources
Through donations and community partnerships, we provide essential items and resources to qualifying Louisiana families when available.
Supplies may include:
- Pull-ups, wipes, and hygiene supplies
- School supplies
- Safe return kits
- Back-to-school drives
Availability varies based on donations.
Inclusive Community Events & Playdates
We create welcoming spaces where every child and family feels celebrated and connected.
Programming includes:
- Inclusive holiday celebrations
- Inclusive community events and playdates
- Parent meetups
Safe Return Program
Our Safe Return program supports the safety of individuals who may be at risk of wandering.
Program resources may include:
- Safe Return registry
- Emergency identification cards
- Wandering safety planning guidance
- Safety materials when available
Crisis & Caregiver Support
Families sometimes face situations that feel overwhelming or urgent. ATA Lopez Foundation provides compassionate guidance to help caregivers navigate difficult moments and connect with appropriate resources. Our goal is to help families identify safe next steps and connect with appropriate supports.
Autism & Developmental Navigation Support
When developmental concerns arise, families are often left navigating confusing systems and long waitlists. We help caregivers understand the process and prepare for what comes next.
Support may include:
- Developmental concern guidance
- Evaluation and appointment preparation
- Early Intervention navigation
- School system guidance
- Advocacy education and resource connections

Apoyo para Padres Y Cuidadores
Nuestro programa de Apoyo entre Pares conecta a padres y cuidadores en un espacio compasivo y confidencial para compartir experiencias, consejos y apoyo. Ofrecemos apoyo individual, sesiones en grupo y una comunidad en línea para que nunca te sientas solo.

Juegos Inclusivos Y Eventos Comunitarios
Actividades divertidas e inclusivas para que niños de todas las habilidades jueguen, aprendan y se expresen en un entorno positivo. También organizamos reuniones para mamás, padres y cuidadores para compartir, conectarse y apoyarse mutuamente.
